Flood control improvements will affect traffic in Centennial Hills later this month.

The intersection of Shadow Mountain Road and northbound Decatur Boulevard, which is the main entrance to Cross Roads Towne Center, will be closed to through traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, through 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, as part of a $30 million flood control improvement project.

Motorists are encouraged to use the Rome Boulevard entrance to the center.

Construction activities will be occurring 24 hours a day during the closure to minimize the impact on the neighborhood. Lane restrictions on Decatur between the 215 Beltway and Rome Boulevard will remain through June 2011. Access to residences, businesses and schools will be available at all times.

This work is part of a project that includes construction on Decatur from the 215 to Elkhorn Road; and on Elkhorn, from Decatur to Torrey Pines Drive. Work on the project began in December 2010, and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2012.

The city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works is managing the project. The project coordinator is Meadow Valley Contractors and Louis Berger & Associates is the construction manager. Project funding is provided by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, the city of Las Vegas and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
