Camino Del Oro to Close for Four Days Next Week

Access to Camino del Oro will be closed at Lone Mountain Road beginning at just past midnight Tuesday and is expected to reopen by the same time Saturday.

While large concrete box culvert storm drains are installed under Lone Mountain at this location, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes on Craig Road and Jones and Decatur Boulevards. Lane restrictions continue along Lone Mountain Road. Access to Los Prados on the north side of Lone Mountain will not be affected. Motorists can expect lane restrictions and delays along this section of Lone Mountain throughout construction. Construction began at Decatur and is moving west on Lone Mountain to Rancho.

Major disruptions are scheduled to occur at the Lone Mountain and Jones Boulevard intersection from August through September 2011. The storm drain work also will continue northerly along the east side of Rancho to Rainbow Boulevard. Work will include laterals on the west side of Rancho that will connect to the east side and also include work across Rainbow.

This construction is part of a $9 million project by the city of Las Vegas and the Clark County Regional Flood Control District that began in January and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2012. The contractor is Spirit Underground LLC. PBS&J is managing the construction project for the city of Las Vegas. Funding for the project comes from the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.
