Transportation

The next phase of the expansion of the U.S. 95 northwest corridor gets underway Monday.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is widening U.S. 95 from Ann Road to Durango Drive. The first part of the construction will be from Elkhorn Bridge to the northern beltway on southbound U.S. 95.

The road will be expanded from six lanes to eight lanes, with an auxiliary lane. There will also be a high occupancy vehicle lane added in each direction, along with landscaping and aesthetic improvements.

The project is expected to be finished in September 2015.

As part of the construction, there will be nightly lane closures on U.S. 95 southbound from Elkhorn Bridge to the beltway.  The closures will start at 9 p.m. and last through 6 a.m.
