The next phase of the Kyle Canyon Road improvement project starts Wednesday with the repaving of the road.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, the road will close for the next two to three weeks while crews repave the area from Milepost 15 to Milepost 21. During the paving project, drivers will drive on a milled surface for two or three days during the week.

Once the repaving is finished, crews will tear up pavement along the road from Milepost 4 to Milepost 5 to work on new roundabouts. During the construction, drivers will have to drive on dirt and a milled surface for two to three months. There will also be a series of closures throughout the process.

The Kyle Canyon Road improvement project started last year. It will eventually create bike lanes, roundabouts for easier traffic flow, and improved access to developed recreation sites.

The entire project is expected to be finished in spring of next year.
