Road Restrictions on Mt. Charleston Start Monday

Road restrictions are going into place next week on Mount Charleston as crews work on improvements to picnic areas and trails.

Starting Monday, State Route 158 will be closed from Deer Creek Picnic Area to the intersection of State Route 156. The picnic area and State Route 156 will remain open, and people living in the area will have access to their homes.

People will be allowed to drive up State Route 156, otherwise known as Lee Canyon, and State Route 157, otherwise known as Kyle Canyon. However, anyone, including residents, who want to drive from Lee Canyon to Kyle Canyon, or vice versa, will have to go down the road to U.S. 95 to get across the mountain.

The restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. Monday through 7 p.m. Thursday.
