Another Major Closure for Summerlin HOV Work

Another major closure of the U.S. 95 will affect drivers this weekend.

Beginning Friday, the Nevada Department of Transportation will be closing a portion of Rainbow Boulevard. and will detour U.S. 95 southbound in order to pour concrete pour the bridge decks for the Summerlin HOV flyover bridge currently under construction.

The traffic reconfiguration will consist of one marathon weekend beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and reopening by 5 a.m. Sunday.

Drivers heading south on U.S. 95 will be detoured through Rainbow. Motorists driving east on Summerlin Parkway will be diverted through Buffalo to connect to 95 North. There will be no restrictions to connect from 95 North to Summerlin Parkway West.

Motorists who need to get across Rainbow will be diverted through surface streets and marked detours. 95 North will be restricted to one lane near the construction area. Silverstream Ave. will also be closed at Rainbow Blvd.

Detours and delay times will be provided using dynamic message signs, construction signs and overhead signals. Drivers can take suggested detours or use their own preferred alternate routes to reach their destination. Pedestrians will be escorted at the Rainbow bridge to be safely directed.

Nevada Highway Patrol will be patrolling the area to ensure drivers use caution near the construction zone.

The Summerlin HOV connector is a federally funded project designed to create an overpass for drivers using the HOV connectors to exit onto Summerlin Parkway safely by avoiding weaving traffic. The $26 million project is expected to be completed by the end of July.
