Buffalo Road Project Set for Next Five Weeks

A five-week road project will slow down Buffalo Drive in the northwest part of the valley.

Starting today and continuing into 2012, traffic lane restrictions will be in effect around the clock on Buffalo Drive between Charleston and Lake Mead boulevards. The traffic lane restrictions will consist of one or two travel lanes. The second travel lane will be closed only between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., in order to limit the impact on traffic flow during peak travel times.

Ninety-four sidewalk ramps will be installed, along with associated repairs to asphalt and concrete. The activities will be restricted to one side of the road at a time. Buffalo will return to full access by the end of January. There is no work scheduled for the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Drew Asphalt Paving is the contractor. City of Las Vegas Department of Operations and Maintenance personnel are managing the project. Funding for this $250,000 project is provided by the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility and Pedestrian Pathway Rehabilitation Program established by the city of Las Vegas.

This is preparatory work for a pavement-overlay project planned for this section of roadway. The schedule of the overlay project is yet to be determined and contingent upon available funding.
