Burglary turns into barricade situation, suspect arrested

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police said they investigated a barricade situation Saturday near W. Cheyenne Avenue and N. Jones Boulevard.

Officers said at 3:30 p.m. they responded to the 3000 block of Breton Drive in regards to a burglary.  The homeowners were coming home as the alleged burglar was on his way out.

Metro said the suspect saw the homeowners and ran back inside.  When police arrived to the scene, the suspect was hold up inside the home.

Officers surrounded the area and commanded the suspect to come out, but he refused, according to police.

The SWAT Team, along with crisis negotiators was called in to assist.  The standoff eventually ended around 5 p.m. with the suspect being taken into custody.

His name hasn't been released.
