Doctor Charged in Oxycodone Sales Re-Arrested

LAS VEGAS – A doctor who is facing charges in connection with the sale of oxycodone in the Centennial Hills Hospital parking lot earlier this year was arrested Thursday for violating his pretrial release.

Vinay Bararia, the hospital's former co-chair, is scheduled in court at 3 p.m. Thursday. It is unclear what the violation is.

He is facing charges of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute of a controlled substance.


Police: Man Threatened Worker While Stealing From Store

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are looking for a man who robbed a store in northwest Las Vegas earlier this month.

According to police, the robber verbally and physically threatened a worker while stealing merchandise.

The robber is described as a heavy set black man, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing between 220 to 250 pounds.

Northwest Freeway Work Impacts Exits This Week


Continuing work on US 95 in the northwest part of the valley will have a major impact in freeway traffic this week. Closures in the area are scheduled as follows:

Monday – 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • The right lane and shoulder on U.S. 95 northbound will be closed from the Lake Mead on-ramp to the Cheyenne off-ramp.
  • The Lake Mead on-ramp to northbound U.S. 95 will also be closed. Freeway motorists will still be able to exit via the Cheyenne northbound off-ramp.

Tuesday – 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • The right lane and shoulder on northbound U.S. 95 will be closed from the Cheyenne on-ramp to the Craig Road on-ramp.
  • Cheyenne Avenue on-ramp to northbound U.S. 95 will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Craig Road on-ramp and off-ramp to northbound U.S. 95 will be closed from 1 to 3 p.m.

Wednesday – 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Crews to Close Cheyenne Road for Paving Project


A paving project will force the closure of a major road along with freeway off and on ramps this weekend.

Nevada Department of Transportation will close Cheyenne Road between Rainbow Boulevard and Tenaya Way from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. On and off ramps from U.S. 95 to Cheyenne Road will also be closed.

Crews will be removing a layer of pavement and putting down a new layer, during the closure. The process is called a mill and fill. It extends the life of a roadway by getting rid of tire ruts, shifting asphalt and regular wear and tear.

Drivers are encouraged to use detours along Lake Mead Boulevard and Craig Road.

6th Human Case of West Nile Confirmed in So. Nev.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Health officials said a they've confirmed a sixth human case of West Nile virus in southern Nevada.

The Southern Nevada Health District said Tuesday that a 38-year-old man has been diagnosed with the less serious form of the illness.

West Nile has already been blamed in the death of 75-year-old woman in Clark County in recent weeks, and four other people have been diagnosed with the virus this year.

Four deaths in Clark County have been linked to West Nile virus since 2003.

The health district has identified West Nile-positive mosquitoes in the 89145 and 89107 ZIP codes.
