Best Guesser Gets to Meet Real Mojave Max

Best Guesser Gets to Meet Real Mojave Max

The Las Vegas schoolgirl who did the best job of guessing when desert tortoise Mojave Max would emerge for the spring will meet the real Mojave Max on Thursday.

Elaine Wynn Elementary School third-grader Abigail Lemus predicted that Max would come out of his burrow on 1:57 pm on March 29. The tortoise poked his head out at 2:03 pm on March 29. Lemus earned a pizza party for her class and a trip to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to see Max. She also got a digital camera and a laptop computer.

The emergence of Mojave Max marks the start of the spring season in Southern Nevada.
