U.S. 95 Lanes Closing for Re-Striping Effort

Rolling closures are planned this Sunday for a heavily traveled portion of U.S. 95.

Nevada Department of Transportation crews will be restriping portions of the highway's high-occupancy vehicle lanes both northbound and southbound from Lake Mead Boulevard to Rancho Road.

The closures will be between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. Drivers are advised to slow down and follow the traffic controls that will be in place.

Sky Pointe Drive Closing for Several Weeks

A improvement project will force a road in the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley to close for several weeks.

Sky Pointe Drive from Private Drive to New Leaf Avenue will be closed from Tuesday, May 28 to Tuesday, July 9.

Crews will be widening that part of the road, putting in storm drain improvements, adding new lighting and creating new sidewalks.

Northbound traffic on Sky Pointe Drive will detour to Cimarron, then to Sunny Springs. Southbound traffic on Tule Springs will detour to Sunny Springs, then to Cimarron.

Pavement repair work will affect traffic in northwest Las Vegas for the next three months.

Starting Monday, there will be construction on Coke Street from Maggie Avenue to Racel Street, on Racel from Conough Lane to Tenaya Way, on Tenaya from Racel to Farm Road, and on Farm from Rainbow Boulevard to Decatur Boulevard.

Work hours generally will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

There is good news and bad news for drivers in the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley.

The newly finished Bradley Road bridge opened to traffic at about 2:30 p.m. Friday. The bridge will carry drivers over the 215 northern beltway. Before the bridge opened, drivers had to stop at a light at Bradley Road and the 215.

While the bridge is good news for drivers, Clark County announced Friday that lanes along Jones Boulevard will be closing for several weeks.

Starting at around 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jones Boulevard will be reduced to one lane for northbound traffic at the beltway. The closure will be in place for the next six to eight weeks.

Crews will be making improvements to the flood control measures in the area as part of the ongoing highway construction project.

The Ann Road on-ramp to southbound U.S. 95 will be closed starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday and will stay closed until 5 a.m. Thursday.

Crews with the Nevada Department of Transportation will be repairing traffic loops on the ramp. Loops count traffic flows and feed that information to the ramp meters to better control traffic.

Drivers are advised to use the Rancho Flyover to Craig Road to access southbound U.S. 95.

Road Work Restricts Mt. Charleston Traffic

 

Work to improve traffic sightlines along State Route 158 on Mount Charleston will result in road restrictions beginning Tuesday.

SR158 will be closed from the Deer Creek Picnic Area to the intersection of SR156 from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Friday. State work crews will cut into the face of the mountain to create sightlines between oncoming traffic and the nearby parking lot, which will be expanded and widened. 

During this work, both the picnic area and SR156 will remain open, and residents will have access to their homes. The public will be able to access the mountain via SR156 (Lee Canyon) and SR157 (Kyle Canyon.) Anyone wanting to go between Lee Canyon to Kyle Canyon will have to go down to US 95 to get across the mountain.
