Lane Closures This Weekend on Rainbow for Construction

Lane Closures This Weekend on Rainbow for Construction

As many as half the traffic lanes on Rainbow Boulevard will close between Alta Drive and Washington Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday while work continues on a pedestrian undercrossing.

Lane closures will be required while a 50-foot wide trench is excavated through Rainbow Boulevard north of Westcliff Drive, and for major work on a pedestrian undercrossing of Rainbow. When completed, the arch will be 200 feet long, 16 feet wide and 12 feet high at the center, allowing ample space for pedestrians and bicyclists to cross Rainbow Boulevard below the roadway. Access to U.S. 95 on- and off-ramps will not be impeded, but motorists should expect traffic delays as a result of the lane restrictions.

Similar lane restrictions will be in place the weekends of April 1-4, 8-11 and 15-18, from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, as the work progresses across Rainbow from east to west.

Drivers in Northwest Las Vegas may want to take a detour if their drive includes the portion of Rainbow Blvd between Gowan Road and Red Coach Avenue. Starting Monday, March 7th, this area will have traffic lane restrictions on Rainbow Blvd in effect, reducing it down to one lane in each direction on a 24-hour basis. The project will last 5 weeks, and is a preventative maintenance project to extend the life of this heavily traveled roadway.

Rainbow should return to full access when the improvements are completed in April.
