NDOT Explains Plans for Construction on U.S. 95

People living in the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley now have a better idea of the plans to improve a section of U.S. 95.

Officials with the Nevada Department of Transportation held a meeting Wednesday night to update the public on the corridor project.

NDOT plans to widen U.S. 95 from Ann Road up to Durango Drive from four lanes to eight, which will include HOV lanes in each direction.

"Alleviate congestion, increase the safety of the corridor and, of course, to extend the HOV lanes to the northern-most limits in the area," NDOT's project manager Nick Johnson said.

NDOT is also working with the City of Las Vegas and the Regional Flood Control District to make drainage improvements and upgrade lighting along the corridor.

Construction should start early next year.
