Road Work Restricts Mt. Charleston Traffic

Work to improve traffic sightlines along State Route 158 on Mount Charleston will result in road restrictions beginning Tuesday.

SR158 will be closed from the Deer Creek Picnic Area to the intersection of SR156 from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Friday. State work crews will cut into the face of the mountain to create sightlines between oncoming traffic and the nearby parking lot, which will be expanded and widened.

During this work, both the picnic area and SR156 will remain open, and residents will have access to their homes. The public will be able to access the mountain via SR156 (Lee Canyon) and SR157 (Kyle Canyon.) Anyone wanting to go between Lee Canyon to Kyle Canyon will have to go down to US 95 to get across the mountain.
