Police Patrol Mt. Charleston for Senior Ditch Day

Nevada Highway Patrol, Metro Police and Clark County School District truancy officers partnered to find southern Nevada students skipping school for senior ditch day Tuesday. Law enforcement made a special effort in the area of Mount Charleston.

School principals will call law enforcement when they hear students are planning to skip school. A billboard is set up letting kids know there is a checkpoint ahead. Students who are 18 years old were sent back in their car. Students younger then 18 were taken back to school in a van.

"There is always a kid missing school for some reason or another. The problem is it is district wide, all at the same time, on the same date. So, you are talking about large volumes of kids, all with the same idea," Sgt. Andrew Legrow said.
