2 dead in head-on crash on U.S. 95 identified

LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County Coroner's office has identified the two people killed  in a crash on U.S. 95 near Indian Springs late Sunday afternoon.

David Beckstrand, 40, of Las Vegas or Michael Phillip Johannsen, 29, of  North Las Vegas were killed in the crash that happened around 4:15 p.m. near mile marker 91 in the southbound lanes of U.S 95 north of Las Vegas. 

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said it was a head-on crash involving three cars and a semi-truck. 

Nevada Highway Patrol had received calls of a man, later identified as Beckstrand, driving recklessly in a SUV. According to witness, Beckstrand was driving his Suburban the wrong way when he crashed into a Camero driven by Johannsen, a Creech Air Force Base airman.

One person was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A Creech Air Force Base rescue crew was also sent to the scene to assist emergency officials.
