Driving You Crazy: Lanes needed at Charleston and 215

LAS VEGAS - Numerous drivers say they want an extra lane from northbound 215 to eastbound Charleston Boulevard. They say there is currently only one lane, causing back-ups.

Hughes Park Drive, the street that runs parallel to 215, is one of the problems. That road funnels traffic from Downtown Summerlin to Charleston and the beltway. Since its opening a few months ago, Downtown Summerlin has increased traffic on Hughes Park Drive.

Vehicles exiting at Charleston have to maneuver through Hughes Park traffic, and it can get messy. Drivers say vehicles will stop on the 215 off-ramp, so they can get to eastbound Charleston.

County representatives say they are evaluating the off-ramp to see what improvements can be made. They should have a design plan to propose in the next four to six weeks. Traffic8 will follow up at that time.
