Report Details Elderly Woman's Killing

LAS VEGAS -- Police used DNA samples to identify the suspect accused of killing a 75-year-old woman in her home.

According to the arrest report, DNA from blood samples taken from the home where Jean Main was killed matched 21-year-old Bayzle Morgan's DNA.

Main was found dead in her home on Green Pasture Avenue on May 21. Main had been beaten and shot in the head. Several items, including Main's purse, a lap top, a coin collection and jewelry were missing.

Morgan's girlfriend told police that Morgan and Keith Smith, 46, planned to do a robbery to make some money.

According to the arrest report, Smith stayed outside the home in a vehicle and Morgan entered the home from the backyard, but Smith drove away from the home after hearing two gunshots, leaving Morgan behind.

Smith did return to the house and Morgan exited with a suitcase full of items.

According to the arrest report, Main was confronted as she sat in a recliner in her living room. Morgan moved Main to the bathroom where he allegedly struck her several times with a gun and then shot her.

Crime scene analysts found blood samples in the home. When police interviewed Morgan, he had a cut on his hand. Police say the DNA from the samples matched Morgan's DNA.

Morgan is facing murder, robbery, kidnapping and burglary charges. Smith is facing burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary charges.
