Javier Reyes

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police officers are seeking the public's help in finding a man suspected of stealing a car and beating an ex-girlfriend.

According to police, Javier Reyes went to the woman's house Dec. 29 in the 6300 block of E. Sahara Avenue and hit her several times. He also threatened her with a gun, the police said. Reyes left the house before officers arrived.

On Thursday, officers found Reyes in the 10000 block of Delray Beach Avenue in the northwest Las Vegas valley. He ran from detectives and broke a sliding glass door to enter an elderly couple's home, the police said. He took the couple's car keys and left with the car.

Reyes was last seen in the couple's blue four-door Hyundai Sonata with Nevada handicap plate PH72725.

Reyes is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 190 lbs., with a shaved head and brown eyes.

Police said Reyes has been violent in the past and should be considered armed and dangerous.
