Police Investigate Fatal Accident Near Ann and Rainbow | News
LAS VEGAS - Metro Police are investigating a fatal accident near Ann Road and Rainbow Boulevard. Police say a motorcycle carrying two riders collided with a truck at Ann and Rio Vista Street.
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday. Officers say the pick-up truck was on Ann and turning left on to Rio Vista Street when it collided with the motorcycle.
The male driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. The male passenger of the motorcycle was transported to University Medical Center with critical to life-threatening injuries.
The posted speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour. Witnesses tell police the motorcyclist was speeding when he crashed, but investigators say they won't know for certain until they complete their investigation.
"We're going to have to look at the markings on the roadways, crush damage into the vehicles and basically work it backward," said Metro Police Sgt. Richard Strader. "It's all mathematical from there at that point, figuring out how everything works out."
The female driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries. The ages of the men on the motorcycle are still unknown. So far, police don't believe drugs or alcohol are factors.
