People Line up for Mortgage Modification Event

Las Vegas valley homeowners looking to modify their mortgages in an effort to keep their homes will have a chance over the next five days. Experts will be on hand at one of the country's largest loan modification events.

People started lining up Thursday morning as the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America or NACA kicked off its first day of a five-day free loan modification event. People who can't afford their mortgages can talk to lenders about changing the terms of their loans. The event starts at 8 a.m. and lasts through 8 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Our city is still one of the hardest hit for foreclosures. People wanting to keep their homes will get a chance to get some help. The Las Vegas Senior Citizen Law project is holding a Foreclosure Prevention and Mediation Process workshop on May 11th. People looking to keep their homes out of foreclosure will get a chance to talk with representatives from the City of Las Vegas, The Attorney General's office, The Foreclosure Mediation Program and Consumer Credit Counseling. There will be a question and answer period. The workshop is from 2 to 4 in the afternoon at the Centennial Hills Active Adults Center at 6601 North Buffalo. IRS YouTube Channel Provides Last-Minute Tax Tips

With Tax Day upon us, helpful tax-related information can be found on the IRS YouTube channel. The channel, which debuted in August 2009, features numerous IRS experts answering common and not-so-common tax questions.

The IRS YouTube channel is home to hundreds of videos on subjects ranging from how to choose a tax preparer to filing your taxes for free to checking on your refund.

Videos are posted in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. To date, there have been more than 1.7 million views.

Taxpayers can even subscribe to the channel to receive notice of new video offerings. In fact, the IRS will soon be featuring summertime video tax tips.
