Affordable Senior Housing Project Begins | Housing
Local seniors soon will have a new affordable housing option, as the Decatur Pines 2 Senior Apartments begin construction.
This new affordable community will consist of 75 one and two-bedroom independent senior apartments, located at 6741 N. Decatur Blvd. Nevada H.A.N.D., Inc., a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, will develop the project which completes the third and final phase of the Deer Springs Campus.
The development of this new community is being made possible, in part, through the continuous support of local jurisdictions. In March 2011, Nevada HAND was awarded $1.5 million from the City of Las Vegas and $600,000 from Clark County. The project is also being funded by a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program partnership with National Equity Fund.
Decatur Pines 2 will join the existing Decatur Pines (75 affordable independent senior apartments) and Silver Sky at Deer Springs (90 affordable assisted living apartments.) All three communities are designed to serve the needs of low-income senior citizens in Southern Nevada. The general contractor for this project will be HAND Construction Company, an affiliate of Nevada H.A.N.D., Inc. The construction is projected to be completed in October 2012.
Formed in 1993, Nevada H.A.N.D., Inc. is a non-profit corporation with the mission to improve the lives of low-income individuals by providing affordable housing solutions and supportive services. In pursuit of this mission, Nevada HAND has grown into a full service real estate development company with the ability to design, develop, finance, construct, and manage affordable housing for rent.
