Open House Slated for Mt. Charleston Fire Station

 

The Clark County Fire Department will host a community open house at a volunteer fire station at Mount Charleston next weekend.

Mount Charleston’s Fire Station 81 will hold an open house from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 25 Ski Chalet Place in Kyle Canyon near the community library on State Route 157.

The Southern Nevada Immunization & Health Coalition will offer free immunizations at both open houses. Information about camping safety and wildland fire protection also will be available.

Police and Firefighters Face Off on the Ice

 

Las Vegas valley police and firefighters will face off in the annual Guns & Hoses hockey game Friday night.

The game starts at 6 p.m., at the Fiesta Rancho SOBe Ice Area, 2400 N. Rancho Drive. Tickets are just $10 for adults and free for kids 12 and younger. The game will raise money for The Rape Crisis Center.

This year’s event will include police officers from North Carolina.

"Dolphin Tale" Swims Through Centennial Hills

 

The next free Friday movie in Centennial Hills will be “Dolphin Tale.”

People are invited to bring blankets or folding chairs for a free movie in the park at 7:30 p.m. July 20 at the Centennial Hills Park Amphitheatre, located at 7101 N. Buffalo Drive.

The PG-rated family movie “Dolphin Tale” begins at dusk and is sponsored by Smoothie King. Refreshments, including smoothies and snacks, will be available for purchase from Smoothie King.

One of the most popular divisions at Metro Police will be the topic of discussion for the up-coming First Tuesday event.

Officers from Metro’s K-9 Unit will be at the area command centers to talk to people about what the unit does. The discussion is part of an outreach program by Metro. It opens its area command centers on the first Tuesday of every month to the public. Following the discussion about the K-9 Unit, citizens will be able to talk with officers assigned to their area.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Offer Dozens of Day Camps

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada has a multitude of programming available this summer for girls 5 to 17 years old. From day camps to single day programs, girls can discover fun and friendships to last a lifetime.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is offering special anniversary pricing on Camp Foxtail registration as a celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouting. Save $100 on resident summer camp with session prices ranging from $50 to $295.

Camp Foxtail is located in the cool in the cool Spring Mountain Range, just 45 minutes from Las Vegas.

Summer sessions run through August 17 and a 10-day pre-registration is required.  Registration is available at girlscoutsnv.org.

'Amazing Race' Looking for Las Vegas Racers

 

The Emmy-winning show “The Amazing Race” is looking for people to enter the around-the-world race.

They are holding a casting call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Colleen’s Consignment at Rainbow Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue. They are looking for outgoing, strong-willed pairs who are physically and mentally able to race around the world. The teams must have valid passports.
