Skiers, cyclists fear butterfly effect

Skiers are worried that a plan to better protect an endangered butterfly could hurt plans to enlarge the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort.

Efforts to protect the newly endangered Mount Charleston blue butterfly could spoil plans to expand portions of Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort and open its slopes to mountain bikers during the offseason.

Free family movie night planned for Friday

A free family movie will be shown Friday night at Centennial Hills Park Amphitheatre.

Las Vegas City Councilman Steven D. Ross will host a showing of  the Disney movie "Planes." The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will be begin at dusk.

The Slidin' Thru food truck will be offering food to purchase. People are encouraged to bring blankets and low-folding chairs.

Movie in the Park Planned for Centennial Hills Park

The free family event Movie in the Park returns to Centennial Hills Park in two weeks.

Las Vegas City Councilman Steven Ross will host the event Friday, Sept. 20. The movie "Rise of the Guardians" will start at 7:30 p.m.

It will be the last movie scheduled for this year. People are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. There will be free popcorn and bottled water, while supplies last.

The Slidin' Thru food truck will be there with food available for purchase.

A movie in the park event was cancelled in July because of the Carpenter 1 fire on Mt. Charleston.

Madagascar 3 Featured in Family Movie Night

Free Family Movie Night is returning to Centennial Park June 21.

Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross will host a screening of "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" at 7:30 p.m.

The Slidin' Thru food truck will have refreshments available for purchase, but people are encouraged to bring a picnic baskets, blankets and folding chairs.

The movie will start at dusk and is sponsored by Lexus of Las Vegas.

The community is invited to enjoy a free movie this Friday at Centennial Hills Park.

The movie "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" will be screened starting at 6:30 p.m. at the park's amphitheatre.

The movie is rated PG. Families are encouraged to bring blankets, folding chairs and picnics.

The Slidin' Thru truck will be at the park for people to purchase food.

The event is being sponsored by Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross for all the residents of Ward 6.

'The Lorax' Featured in Free Friday Movie Night

 

Free movie night is returning to Centennial Hills Park next week.

Las Vegas City Councilman Steven Ross will host a screening of “The Lorax” at 7:30 p.m. September 28 in the park amphitheatre. People are encouraged to bring blankets and low-folding chairs.

The event is being sponsored by Sam’s Club, which will be selling refreshments to raise money for the American Lung Association. HomeFree Nevada will provide activities for children.
