Police, Community to Honor Memory of Kahre

Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie and other law enforcement officials will take time from their busy schedules to honor one of their own on Friday during the annual Marc Kahre Honor Day celebration at Marc Kahre Elementary School, 7887 West Gowan Road.

Parents and families are invited to attend the feature event of the day, the annual parade of officers that will take place beginning at 1 p.m. on Kahre Field. School personnel will be available to guide those in attendance to the proper locations for the various events.

Kahre was a 15-year veteran of the Metro Police Department when he was killed in the line of duty on October 11, 1988. In recognition of his service to the community, the school annually hosts a day of educational events. Students will have the opportunity see demonstrations by the K-9 unit, DARE, Mounted Police Patrol and SWAT, as well as a variety of guest speakers including Gillespie.
