The community around Cimarron-Memorial High School in northwest Las Vegas will enjoy a special Thanksgiving meal this year.

Community partners and volunteers will come together Thursday to host families from approximately 30 schools, as Cimarron presents its second annual Feeding the Homeless Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. inside the school's cafeteria. The school is located at 2301 N. Tenaya Way.

In addition to a full holiday dinner, there will be bingo and a visit from Santa Claus. The idea for the event came from Principal Joe Caruso, who volunteers at the City Mission of Las Vegas and wanted to welcome in the community.

“Throughout the District you'll often hear principals say that our students are members of our extended family,” Caruso said. “This dinner is our way of opening up our school to the community and showing our appreciation for the support they give to our students throughout the school year."
