BJ's Opens Centennial Location

California-based BJ’s Restaurants recently opened a third Las Vegas location.

The casual brewery and restaurant’s new spot is in Centennial Center, 5881 Centennial Center Blvd. The company opened the Centennial location to reach out to customers driving to the Summerlin or Green Valley restaurants.

BJ’s plans to open 12 new locations in the fiscal year. It is BJ’s fifth Nevada location, with two in the Reno-Sparks area.

 

Design a Grocery Bag to Win at Fresh & Easy

Ten people will win $100 gift cards and one grand winner will get groceries for a year from Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market through the company’s Design-A-Bag contest.

The contest runs now through May 15 for California, Nevada and Arizona residents 13 years and over. They must submit an original design for the next Fresh & Easy reusable bag and a panel of judges will choose 10 finalists – each of whom will receive $100 gift cards for their efforts.

From the top 10, the winner will be selected by a group of customers called “Friends of Fresh & Easy.” The winning design will be made into a reusable bag and sold in all Fresh & Easy stores. The winner will get the grand prize of a year’s supply of groceries.

Cupkates, a Las Vegas-based specialty bakery that delivers door to door, recently announced the opportunity for 12 military moms to win free cupcakes.

Cupkates would like to recognize the many women who raise families while their husbands serve tours in the military. The bakery is looking to make Mother’s Day special for 12 military moms by delivering two dozen mini-cupcakes. To nominate a military mom, send a 100-word summary as well as the nominator’s contact information (name and phone number) to cupkateslv@hotmail.com. Cupkates will choose the 12 military moms to honor.

The company is also offering Mother's Day specials. The Mother’s Day bouquet includes six (6) full-sized cupcakes, five (5) mini-sized cupcakes, four (4) white chocolate-dipped strawberries. Orders can be made with any combination of existing cupcake flavors.

Tobler Elementary Tops in Fresh & Easy Fundraising

Tobler Elementary School raised more than $7,700 to earn top honors in the Shop for Schools program through Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets.

Overall, Nevada schools raised more than $164,000 via the fundraising program. Nearly 260 schools across the state participated to raise money for their school’s programs.  Community leaders, school officials, parents, teachers and students will gathered Thursday at Tobler to celebrate the achievement.

Tobler’s total of more than $7,700 includes an additional $5,000 for being Nevada’s top fundraising school.

NV Energy Grants $25,000 to Spread the Word Nevada Literacy Programs

NV Energy recently awarded a $25,000 grant to Spread the Word Nevada, a children's literacy nonprofit organization serving low-income children and families in the Las Vegas Valley and Clark County School District.

The grant will allow Spread the Word Nevada to continue providing children's books, family literacy events, and reading mentors to the 23 elementary schools adopted since the organization started in 2001.

"We are grateful for NV Energy’s continued financial support and belief in our children’s literacy programs," said Lisa Habighorst, Executive Director of Spread the Word Nevada. "Our mission of distributing books and promoting reading to the underprivileged children within our communities is so successful due to community partners like NV Energy.

College of Southern Nevada Hosts Spring Career Fair  To Connect Job Seekers and Employers

The College of Southern Nevada will be hosting the Spring 2011 Career Fair tomorrow, March 8th from 10am to 1pm. Job seekers should come in business attire and bring plenty of printed resumes to hand out to the dozens of potential employers on hand. Companies looking for fresh talent include the Clark County Fire Department, Abercrombie & Fitch, MGM Resorts International, and Nathan Adelson Hospice to name a few.

The event will take place on the CSN Cheyenne Campus in the Student Lounge, 3200 E. Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas NV

Station Casinos Plans to Hire for 1,000 Jobs

LAS VEGAS -- Station Casinos, which has 18 properties around southern Nevada, has announced it plans to fill more than 1,000 positions throughout the company.

About 500 of those positions will be full-time jobs and the rest will be part-time. The majority of the hiring will be done over the next two months and is focused on the company's guest services.

"We know we're in the most competitive gaming market in the world and our guests have a lot of choices when it comes to entertainment, which is why we need to ensure that we earn our guests' loyalty each and every day by providing the best service and value possible," said Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer of Station Casinos.

There are openings at all 18 Station Casino properties, and anyone can apply, even if you don't have casino experience.
