POLICE: Former Metro officer shoots ex-son-in-law in her home

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A former Metro Police detective is in custody following a deadly shooting Monday morning.

According to Metro Lt. Ray Spencer the detective retired from the force two years. She is now being questioned about a shooting that left a man dead at her home in the northwest valley.

The shooting occurred in the 8500 block of Honey Vine Avenue, near Durango Drive and Racel Street. Police were called to the home around 8 a.m. by the woman's daughter who was in an upstairs bedroom with her 3-year-old child.

The daughter was at the home with her child for a supervised visit between the child and her ex-husband. The man had gone to the home to visit the child.

"The male went through the hour-long visitation with his child and after the visitation, there was some type of disturbance downstairs between the victim and the shooter. At that point, multiple gunshots were heard upstairs by the daughter of the shooter who then called 9-1-1," Lt. Spencer said.

Police say the man who was shot is in his 30s and the shooter is in her 50s. She is being questioned now by police.
