Metro investigates northwest valley barricade; person could be child sex assault, kidnapping suspect

Metro Police are investigating a barricade situation in the northwest near W. Lone Mountain Road and Simmons Street. Metro Police said that they believe the person inside of the home could be Antwon Perkins, the man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Ralph Cadwallader Middle School student Thursday.

Metro Police named Perkins as a suspect Friday afternoon.

Police said on Jan. 24 at approximately 11:20 a.m. officers were dispatched to a middle school located in the 7700 block of Elkhorn Road to investigate a report of a kidnapping and sexual assault. The victim had arrived at the school and reported to staff that they had been kidnapped and assaulted while on the way to school earlier that morning.

An investigation by the LVMPD Sexual Assault Section indicated that the student was walking to school and passed a convenience store near the intersection of Farm Road and Cimarron Road when a black dually pickup pulled up next to the victim and a man, who is thought to be Perkins, got out of the truck and forced the victim into the vehicle.

The suspect drove to another location, sexually assaulted the victim, and eventually dropped the victim back off in the area where the victim was originally abducted.

The victim ran to school and immediately reported the incident to school officials and that's when the police were notified.

Detectives quickly identified a person of interest in this case as 35-year-old Perkins. The black dually pickup was located yesterday at Perkins' place of employment, but Perkins was not there.
