Officer-Involved Shooting in Northwest Las Vegas
News

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas police shot a man Thursday night after they say the man fired shots at officers and a passerby.

The incident started after a woman called 911 saying her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Jason Vanbuskirk, was outside her house with a gun.

When officers arrived at the scene near Rainbow and Alexander, they say Vanbuskirk fired several shots at them and someone riding a moped. Three officers shot back at the suspect, hitting him once in the chest. Vanbuskirk was taken to UMC in critical but stable condition.

Initially, officers said the suspect had died from his injuries, but then said he survived the shooting.

All three officers were put on administrative leave. Vanbuskirk faces three counts of attempted murder of a police officer and one count of attempted murder.
