Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Wreck

LAS VEGAS -- A motorcyclist suffered severe head trauma after a crash at Fort Apache Road and Saddle Avenue Tuesday evening, Metro Police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to University Medical Center in extremely critical condition, the police said.

A car was also involved in the wreck, but no injuries were reported from that vehicle.

Southbound lanes of Fort Apache have been closed as police officers investigate the crash.

Photos Released of Suspects in 75-Year-Old's Killing

LAS VEGAS -- The photos of two suspects facing charges related to the killing of a 75-year-old woman were released by Metro Police Tuesday.

Bayzle Morgan, 21, is facing murder, kidnapping, robbery and burglary charges in the death of Jean Main. She was found in her home on Green Pasture Avenue on May 21. Main had been beaten and shot.

Keith Smith, 46, is facing burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary charges.

Police say the men wanted to commit a robbery and targeted the home which was located in a gated community.

According to the arrest report, Smith waited outside the home in a getaway vehicle and Morgan entered the home from the backyard.

Police say blood samples in the home matched Morgan's DNA.

Metro Planning Sobriety Checkpoint for Friday Night

Metro Police will be looking for impaired drivers, during a sobriety checkpoint set for Friday.

Officers from three area commands, including Northwest, Bolden and Enterprise Area Commands, will be conducting the checkpoint in the western area of the Las Vegas valley.

The checkpoint will be set up between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. The area was chosen because of the high number of accidents and impaired drivers.

Officers will be looking for people who drinking and driving or driving under the influence of drugs. They want to find impaired drivers before they are involved in a crash. 

Report Details Elderly Woman's Killing

LAS VEGAS -- Police used DNA samples to identify the suspect accused of killing a 75-year-old woman in her home.

According to the arrest report, DNA from blood samples taken from the home where Jean Main was killed matched 21-year-old Bayzle Morgan's DNA.

Main was found dead in her home on Green Pasture Avenue on May 21. Main had been beaten and shot in the head. Several items, including Main's purse, a lap top, a coin collection and jewelry were missing.

Morgan's girlfriend told police that Morgan and Keith Smith, 46, planned to do a robbery to make some money.

According to the arrest report, Smith stayed outside the home in a vehicle and Morgan entered the home from the backyard, but Smith drove away from the home after hearing two gunshots, leaving Morgan behind.

Smith did return to the house and Morgan exited with a suitcase full of items.

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police have arrested two people in connection with the killing of 75-year-old Jean Main.

Police arrested 21 year-old Bayzle Morgan and 46-year-old Keith Smith Thursday. Authorities discovered Main's body May 21st at a home near Cimarron Road and Lone Mountain Road. She died of apparent blunt force trauma.

Morgan was arrested on a charge of murder in the 1st degree along with robbery, burglary and kidnapping. Smith was arrested on charges of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.


Power Restored For Thousands in NW Valley

LAS VEGAS -- Power has been restored for thousands of NV Energy customers in the northwest valley, the utility's spokesman, Mark Severt, said.

Power was lost at 6:02 p.m. for 4,600 customers, he said. Three major distribution lines lost their connection to a substation that feeds the northwest neighborhoods that include Providence and those near the 215-Beltway and Elkhorn Road.

Crews restored power at 7:11 p.m., Severt said.
