Two-car crash leaves 1 dead in east valley

One person is dead after an overnight crash Sunday morning.

Metro Police say the crash happened on East Sahara Avenue and Palm Street around 5:52 a.m.

The collision involved two cars where a Chevy Camaro was driving Eastbound on Sahara. The Camaro proceeded to cross over to the westbound lanes and struck a Chevy Equinox head on.

The passenger in the Camaro died at scene, both drivers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

LYON, France (AP) — The United States won its record fourth Women’s World Cup title and second in a row, beating the Netherlands 2-0 Sunday night when Megan Rapinoe converted a penalty kick in the second half and Rose Lavelle added a goal.

Rapinoe, the pink-haired U.S. captain who grabbed world-wide attention on and off the field, scored in the 61st minute after a video review determined Stefanie van der Gragt had fouled Alex Morgan with a kick to the shoulder in the penalty area.

Drivers heading back to southern California from Las Vegas were facing a long, slow trip Sunday morning.

Regional Transportation Cameras showed crowded conditions on southbound I-15 from the Sloan area (just south of Las Vegas) all the way toward Primm at the state line.

Gov. Newsom says Trump wants to help California

RIDGECREST, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Gavin Newsom says President Donald Trump has called him and expressed commitment to helping California recover from two earthquakes that hit the state in as many days.

Speaking to reporters after touring the damage zone, Newsom said Saturday that he and Trump talked about the struggles California has been through, including two devastating wildfires that happened just six months ago.
