Parents fight to keep Quest Preparatory Academy open

Some valley parents continue to fight to keep Quest Preparatory Academy from closing. Parents met Thursday night to assess their options.

They are trying to help students like Hannah Colquitt stay on the path to success.

"I can't focus around other people. I get distracted really easily, and if I'm around more people, I don't do my work or anything," she said.

The 7th grader says she was failing many classes at her previous school. She has found success at Quest Preparatory Academy, which is at risk of closing.

Her father Lamont Colquitt, who is also the principal, says the school's closure would compromise his daughter's future.

"It's not only just a scramble, but finding the right school. When I talk to parents with children who go to other schools and you have 40 or 35 to a classroom, your child is just a number," he said.

Parents are working to get the city's approval by July to keep the school operating at the same location... Read More

Nevada Supreme Court looks at reforming how judges set bail

The new plan is expected to ease overcrowding in Clark County's jail by up to 30 percent.

Nevada Supreme Court Justice James Hardesty says he doesn't like the fact that most judges don't have enough information to set the proper bail.

"Our justices in this state fly by the seat of their pants," Hardesty... Read More
